It’s very smooth for the category, with very little burn, and it’s almost overly flavorful. It starts with a burst of honey that sticks around till the end, and it picks up a touches of vanilla, cream, and orange along the way. The flavors aren’t supersubtle or well-integrated, but Rebel Yell doesn’t come across as forced or faked, and it’s the most highly recommended Bottom Shelf whiskey I’ve come across in months.

Syndicate Subsession 01 featured GEMA, a lover of analog synthesizers, sub-bass and poly-rhythms. Gema’s beats and pieces are filled with warm synths over a nice dosage of low end frequencies and accompanied with smooth gliding keys. Other than his audio explorations, Gema experiments with visuals as well and he has created a series of visuals to accompany this special performance.
The inaugural installment on 24 March also featured acclaimed electronic act Muon, who launched their sophomore album The Shape of Shapes to Come on the same night. As the brainchild of Nick Chan, Muon has been evolving for close to a decade bridging the disparate gap between the worlds of explosive rock and dark electronica without falling prey to the trappings of either.

That crazy Frenchman TILT is just a non-stop overflow of bubbly fun. He has jus had a productive year, with his Panic Room installation, a new show in L.A., and somehow managed to find time with all his globe-trotting to create a new body of work for the quarterly graffiti fanzine, PUREFILTH.

Earlier this month, Know1edge in association with L.I.F.E. launched a photo exhibition within the Vans-sponsored SK8FIVE2 indoor skatepark in Hong Kong. Bringing together a strong roster of photographic skateboarders who have spanned the pages of Transworld Skateboarding, Thrasher, Skateboarder and Slap among others, the theme of the show was to detail the everyday simplicity of life through assigned camouflage disposable cameras. As a tribute, the show was dedicated to fallen comrades Tatsushi “Tabo” Kagaya and Akira “Takayan” Takata who had a strong impact on show curator Brian Siswojo of 8FIVE2.
